Twenty years ago Jon and I got together.
I was in my 3rd year in Human Geography at Liverpool John Moores University and Jon was working on the Pond Life Project within the Geography department at the university and lecturing part time in Cartography. Our paths had crossed during the second year and we'd got on really well, but it was this day, this night that it clicked. Jon had organised a Geography social at the Excelsior - the pub nearest the uni buildings, and after failing to guess most of the songs correctly (Sisters of mercy - this corrosion, I was Kaiser Bill's Batman - Whistling Jack Smith and The Monkees - randy scouse git...) in the music quiz we began to walk across town to Revolution and somewhere between an accidental nudge and a trip later Jon grabbed me to make sure I didn't fall in front of a black cab and we didn't let go. We've been holding on ever since. We got married in 2010 and had our son in 2011. I'm thankful every single day for that quiz, those arms around me, for being a very lucky lady.
