Suck it and see

Mouth Gel prescribed today. To additionally break down the bacteria that has been identified from the throat swab. I received this info from the receptionist. No call from the doctor or explanation. No word about the blood test. No follow up or kiss my arse.
I asked the receptionist what it was..."hang on i'll just google it..."
Thinks...Oh don't bother love, if that's the data set we're working from I have equal savvy.
"It's for an infection"
Thinks....well fuck me,
"We're not clinicians"
NO.SHIT.SHERLOCK.
And on that bombshell I'm off to hold an unfeasibly large spoonful of orange gel in my mouth for as long as possible whilst my saliva makes it multiply tenfold.

New day. Same shit.

New prescription - cephalexin (a drug I might be allergic to as it is a cousin to penicillin in it's molecular structure). More painkillers. Same old shit.

A doctor who doesn't want to know when I suggest this might be part of a wider problem and ask to be referred to an immunologist. She makes me feel stupid and small by telling me immunologists deal with autoimmunity and I do not qualify for the their remit. HALF AN HOUR later, my bestie who is so worried about me, has contacted a immunology consultant at Salford Royal with regard my case and he has replied saying - yes yes yes - the prolonged illnesses and recurring problems with tonsillitis is EXACTLY what I deal with - ask her to tell her doctor to refer her to my clinic....WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH SOME GP'S??????.....WHY DIDN'T SHE WANT TO DEAL WITH MY SITUATION LONG TERM INSTEAD OF THROWING ANTIBIOTICS AT ME???????? I know referrals cost money but so do repeat after repeat after repeat prescriptions which I do not pay for.

I also have the blood test and throat swab for glandular fever though Dr Doom doesn't think I have it.
The nurse taking my blood is the same one I saw initially with this tonsillitis two weeks ago, she is annoyed, confused and upset for me that i'm still ill.... "you're always so happy and smiling even when you're not well, but this time you look dreadful I can't believe they're so clueless" .....from the mouths of nurses people....from the mouths of nurses....

AWFULLY ill

I have tonsillitis. Nothing new there. Unfortunately, I got it last week and the antibiotics I was prescribed DID NOT work...on day 7 I admitted defeat and called the Doctor who dutifully wrote me a different prescription. Today is day 2 of the new batch, and hand on heart I haven't felt this bad for a long time. I'm sure tomorrow will be better, but in the meantime I am edging my way through on cocodamol, ibuprofen, lots of drinks, salt water gargling and difflam throat spray.
I'll catch up the blog as I feel better, but looking back I am sad to see that I haven't been ''well'' since we went camping :(

Joy of Pram

I was packing up the pram to go to Oldham this afternoon with Jon, chassis leaning against the wall ready to go in the car, when George climbed in the main part and pretending he was driving it like a car...such joy on his face...I adore the ability toddlers have of making inanimate objects seem like priceless toys.

Oooooooof

OK. So I got a bit burnt at the Lido....and with it, whether due to sunstroke or tummy bug, what followed was a week of vomiting and diarrhea. Thursday was a real low point and I spent so much time in the loo I was thinking of sending out change of address cards, but Friday was better, Saturday more so and Sunday I felt back to normal, if a little weak from days of not eating and not moving about.
