Saturday at Thornton Hall Farm

This place was fantastic. George had been wanting to go back ever since he visited with school last month. He was so excited to be there and had the greatest fun showing us around and pointing out where everything was. We petted animals in the barns, met the llamas, alpacas, goats, and he got to feed one of the lambs. He had a go on the caterpillar ride which he absolutely adored and had his arms up all the way round. We got coffee and a hot chocolate for him from the cafe and ate our picnic in the glorious october sunshine. Then we went pumpkin picking. Not a true patch obviously, but a field and little cabin with the area full of pumpkins and lovely bales to sit on and pose for photos. George loved it. We chose 2 pumpkins and then carried them back. In the barn we did some colouring and then George wanted to go on the farm tour - unfortunately there wasn't due to be one running until much later and he was upset. The farmer saw what was going on and came over to offer to take us, so we got tickets and hopped in the back of the open sided jeep. He unhooked the carriages and took us for a very special tour, including some crazy up and down hills in the area they use for the quad biking. We were whooping and squealing as we went practically vertical. George absolutely loved it. Then we were shown the stag, Bruce, and his hareem of girlfriends, and Marshall the bull, we saw the far reaching views from the top of the hill and had a truly fantastic experience. Then it was back to the farm with many thank yous.

We drove back through Barnoldswick and visited a shop all set up for christmas and bought a tomte and a star. Then we went on to the Pendle heritage centre in Barrowfrord for a lovely cup of coffee and a walk in the park there before finally popping over to Booths for some bits and pieces and then home. What a lovely day.
