Talk First

Today we did our first baby signing class at the Children's centre. I really enjoyed learning the signs, I really find things like this really interesting and enjoyable and it made me think about learning adult sign language in the future. George however was less convinced. He like Dexter the Jester - the mascot toy used by Susan, the lady who takes the group and teaches us, but he seemed to really struggle with the noise. We were given musical instrument props for the babies - or us - to hit or scrape to make noise, which whilst he was dexterous enough to tap the beater, he got really jumpy at the other babies/Mum's making noises and then we had to sing songs and he jumped every time Susan put the stereo on, then during one of them we had to walk round in a circle and then bounce our babies...this was the final straw and he started crying and although he calmed down again, by twinkle twinkle little star at the end he was very grimbly and ready to go. I'll persevere, but if he continues to dislike the noise and songs so much then I might have to stop. The thought occurred that it was a good job I hadn't taken him to bongo bongos...(!)

I think he was quite glad to come home and have a sleep with Sacha the cat!
