Boxing day blue elephant
We had a short visit from Santa Shaz on Boxing day, bearing gifts of loveliness. Was truly lovely to see her, I just wish she could have stayed longer, but as usual her tight travelling schedule would not allow. However, my inner Jewish (CATHOLIC!) mother was appeased by feeding her mince pie and traybake and sending her off with a bagful of cheeses, chutney and tomatoes.
As always she had got me beautiful cute stationary some of a Japanese twist and others with an owlish bent (A-OWWWW) and Simon *cool fucker* Pegg's autobiography, silicon cupcake cases and an oven mitt. I love my bezzie blue elephant.
Snuggly warm tum.
Awww.

Christmas day in the morning
Our giant Christmas tree with a sea of presents beneath....
All waiting patiently to be unwrapped
Our beautiful and incredibly touching wedding gift from G, a bauble made especially for us which we can hang on the tree every year and remember our special day.
This made me cry....
Putting those beautiful birdcages to good use on the windowsill

Something Witchery this way comes....
Driving through the Scottish snowfields was like a sleigh ride through Narnia and the cool blues soothed my ravaged eyes...noone ever tells you how bereft you feel the day after you get married, remembering the happiest day of your life and knowing that this monumental thing you've been planning and dreaming of is over. I think I almost cried myself blind.
We found The Witchery many many years ago through a review we read and have, ever since, been determined to visit there one day, and what better time, than for our minimoon.
This deliciously deep and welcoming daybed was our first sight and we couldn't wait to try it...within the hour we were snuggled amongst the enormous cushions like dormice, fast asleep.
This gothic fairytale offered us everything we needed to revive and luxuriate and we could not have chosen a more perfectly 'us' place to spend some special time.
We also had the deepest slipper bath I have ever seen, it came up to my shoulders and despite being laughably difficult to get out of, there was room for two and we had champagne nestled in amongst the bubbles together. Does hedonism get any more delightful?
The incredible objects all over the room gave it so much history and character and just added to the magical, fairytale feel of the room, like you were spending time under a spell.
And then it was morning, and our spell was breaking, but before we moved on we had a beautiful breakfast brought to us in our room - a wicker basket full of delicious treats, cold meats and cheeses, fruit platters, pastries, cereal and porridge, with strong coffee, creamy milk and a bottle of apple juice. Oh and a paper, read by Jon.
