The heatwave...16th, 17th, 18th July

In a recent chat with a friend she exclaimed ''i am built for knitwear, not this unbearable heat'' and I couldn't agree more...we then went on to discuss how many days there were til Halloween (104) and how much we were looking forward to autumn.
Another friend commented on an instagram post ''once a goth, always a goth'' which made me think about my attitude to the weather and how it has changed.
I have never liked being too hot, and could never imagine going for a beach or sunbathing holiday, but i have definitely learned to love the warmer months and especially what it means in the garden, the lighter nights and the longer days. HOWEVER. Temperatures of thirty six and thirty seven are a bridge too far. We coped, but only jut....especially Bella and Boo who found it very very tough and who we constantly supplied with iced water, spritzed towels to lie on and a cooling coat.

The paddling pool was bought ''for dogs'' - fat chance it was ever going to be used for such...we did however enjoy paddling our feet in it and George will enjoy many mini dips in the future.
