I am exactly 40 weeks which can mean only one thing....

As these things tend to go, I have absolutely nothing to report and no idea when little b might make an appearance. Maybe he has decided he would rather be a little firework instead of a pumpkin.
Meantime, I have spent the day doing very little but rest, read, listen to radio 4 and watch dvds. Despite the fact that it is hardly what one might refer to as tropical I have been flushed and overheated on and off all day, thank goodness for my shiny chrome fan next to the bed, without which I would have stuck my head in a bucket of iced water.
Lots of lovely texts, emails, facebook posts and a kind blogger reply regarding the imminent arrival, I may be terribly nervous but I am also incredibly touched by the warmth of dear friends, making up for the absence of family.
And of course, it was Halloween...one of my favourite days of the year, an although they are far from our best work, here are this years lanterns...
carved rather belatedly due to my being so shattered and Jon being so busy with work, but we felt we must do them, as tradition dictates.
Jon assembled the beast when he got in from work and we were both so relieved to discover that all the components were there and the thing fit together like clockwork...
